Feeding Fledglings and Tired Mothers!
Feeding Fledglings and Tired Mothers!
We are getting lots of feedback about the number of fledglings leaving their nests over the last few weeks. So what can you do to help at this time? Well you can do 2 things : 1. Feed them full of high energy feed 2. Keep an eye out for learner flyers The first few months are critical for young birds to get a good start in life. They need to feed regularly and feed well. Our range of suet pellets are ideal for this as they are easily digested, very high in energy and good value for money! They are also very good for feeding up tired parents who have spent the last weeks tending to their young. You can almost hear the sighs of relief! Suet pellets can be used in most feeders and tables, but also can be mixed with your favourite seed. Customers have been telling us their favourite mix is with sunflower hearts. Suet pellets are flying (no pun intended!) off the shelf at BBF. We stock a number of varieties: Insect, Berry, Fruit, Apple and Mixed. A popular choice for a lot of our customers. Please also keep and eye out for low flying fledglings with misfiring wings. This time of year you get more than the average number bumping into windows, falling off perches and generally struggling to get a handle on their flight capabilities. We have had some great images sent in recently of fluffy fledglings, keep them coming and keep checking the website for updates.
