Time to give a Hog a home!

Posted by David Baxter 27/07/2016 0 Comment(s)

Hedgehog homes for sale.

As we head towards the end of July and into August our garden friends are looking around for food and shelter ahead of the colder nights and days of Autumn, it is too late to react when a cold snap hits - now is the time to get prepared and let the small creature use the food and shelter as and when they need it most.

Hedgehogs are at the end of the breeding season and into putting on weight for feeding young Hoglets and building up strength themselves - their target weight is a minimum of 600g before cold weather hits and that takes a lot of doing as well as bringing up youngsters and getting them up to weight too!

Here at British Bird Food, we have always stocked a selection of Hedgehog Houses and food, take a look at our range and I am sure you will find the right one for your garden and budget. All our (Wildlife World) Hedgehog habitats are water proof, so basically all you need to do is find a nice quite part of the garden away from predator and noise and place the Hedgehog House under a hedge or other cover and let them find it for themselves, they will take in some dry leaves and other bedding and use it for night / day protection in the warm weather and then settle down for hibernation in it when the cold weather sets in.
