Protect ground bird feeders

Posted by British Bird Food 05/11/2014 0 Comment(s)

Protecting your wild bird feeders on the ground.

There are several methods of avoiding Squirrels, large birds and other mammals from getting at your wild bird food that you have put out on the ground feeding stations for the songbirds etc. Ground feeder haven, ground feeder guardian, are both types of bird feeder protection. The Ground Feeder Haven is not Squirrel proof, so is designed to allow free movement for small and medium sized birds in and out of the feeder try, yet prevent the large birds and mammals from getting to the food. The Ground Feeder Guardian is a large cage with two sizes of mesh to chose from that allows you to decide what size birds and mammals you wish to prevent from getting to the bird feeder tray. Often people want to stop Starlings from accessing their bird food, as the Starling brings other Starlings along! we soon see a lot of Starlings, this in turn keeps out the smaller species and they soon go elsewhere to find food. The smaller mesh Guardian is perfect for this job, it will allow the Blue Tits, Great Tits and Chaffinch etc to access the food and keep out the Starlings etc. The Ground feeder Haven is designed to prevent larger birds like Pigeons and jackdaws from accessing the wild bird food, it will also allow Squirrels, so you do need to decide on what size mesh you prefer, in order to make sure you only allow the birds and small mammals that you want inside to access the bird food.
