Hedgehog Houses for sale!

Posted by British Bird Food 15/10/2014 0 Comment(s)

Give a Hedgehog a boost this winter.

Providing our spiky friends with food water and shelter is an essential part of helping the Hedgehog population to recover from the drastic decline in numbers over recent years. In October and November, Hedgehogs will be looking for new places to settle down for winter and to find food and water to boost their energy levels before the onset of the cold, wet weather. See our Hedgehog houses. British Bird Food have always promoted the health of our British Hedgehogs and we stock three sorts of Hedgehog house as well as our own mix Hedgehog food and even a small feeding dish, water dish and at the moment we have a limited number of free hedgehog guides and Spikes food to give away with each hedgehog house purchased. Our Hedgehog food consists of lots of high energy foods like suet pellets and dried cat food, plus oats, and seeds, in fact one difficulty is over feeding, as the hedgehogs only need a small amount of food each night, so the rest is likely to encourage rodents if you are not careful - it is not always best to be generous! A good way to reduce rodent activity is a sonic deterrent, Concept Research have just the device for the job. Pest Controller  is an ultra sonic device that can sit next to your Hedgehog feeder and will allow Hedgehogs, but keep Rats and Mice away by emitting a high-pitched sound that only they can hear. It is not designed for outdoor use, so if you raise a piece of timber or slab a few inches off the ground with four bricks or stones under each corner, you can then place the pest controller under the slab and keep it dry, this will allow you to put the hedgehog food on top of the slab and the rodents will keep away because the sound deterrent will be able to affect the full area around the feeding station.
