Autumn cometh!

Posted by British Bird Food 28/08/2014 0 Comment(s)

Autumn is just around the corner and as we (hopefully) enjoy the last few weeks of Summer, we might start to turn our thoughts to the appropriate wild bird food for our feathered friends at this time of year.

During the Summer months the wild birds are busy with one thing - breeding. It is all consuming for them and some of them are still busy even now. If you see a scruffy looking bird that seems tiered out, well it is probably the result of taking full advantage of our dry, hot summer and getting in an extra brood. the poor things are absolutely whacked! Now, as Autumn approaches, they are saying farewell to their last broods and stating to think about survival, they need to gain back strength and resilience, build up their stamina and fitness in order to approach the Winter months. Autumn is a time for recovery. At British Bird Food, we have through our own experience and that of our customers developed our seasonal range of wild bird food mixes, three in all, Spring / , Autumn and Winter mixes. Each one has specific ingredients in it to give to appropriate blend of nutrients and energy the wild birds are requiring sat that time of year and they are quite different, although any one of them can be fed throughout the year. Our exclusive Autumn wild bird mix is a blend of fruit for fibre, suet for energy and Sunflower Hearts for oil and protein, plus nuts and seeds with a little grit to help the digestive system, it provides everything the birds need to recover from the breeding season and all the ingredients are top quality high value, that is why it is so good for the birds. It has had the majority of husks removed and at this time of year there will be no germination below your feeder, so the no mess aspect of this mix is a bonus, any the spillage will be cleared up by the ground feeding birds. Our seasonal range of wild bird food is truly intended for the benefit of your garden birds, all they need is for you to provide them with a reliable source of good quality food and fresh clean water and they will stay with you throughout the Winter.
