Wild bird boxes - choose one now.

Posted by British Bird Food 16/07/2014 0 Comment(s)
Nest boxes for wild birds come in many different shapes and sizes and there are many times of the year when you can put them up in readiness for the wild bird breeding season. Basically there isn't a wrong time of year to put up a nest box, just that early Spring time is probably the most likely to see occupancy from the wild birds in that year, so early Spring tends to be the time when you see most bird nest boxes being purchased. If you put up a nest box for your garden birds at this time of year, then it is going to get 'weathered in' ready for Winter roosting and be ready for the next years bird breeding season. So really it is still worth while putting up a nest box even in the Winter. Probably the most important thing to remember when positioning your new nest box for your birds, is the direction it faces. North East is the most preferred option. This tends to avoid the prevailing wind and also the powerful Summer sun. It is the temperature in the nest box during the breeding season that is paramount, for that reason the Schwegler range of 'woodcrete' nest boxes have the highest rate of occupancy. As the concrete like (but all natural ingredients) material they use for construction gives the best insulation values of all the nest box manufacturers. Nest boxes for wild birds are not only designed for small birds, we also stock a range for Raptors, Owls and Ducks! so you can chose from a large selection of nest boxes in our on line shop. You may also like to see what is going on inside the nest boxes and for this purpose we sell a range of specialist cameras. [gallery]
