First flowers in the garden
End of January and beginning of February sees the first Snowdrops coming into flower. A most welcome sight after the bleak period between the Winter flowering plants like Jasmin and the first Snowdrops. We also spare a thought for those people who are in flood at the moment, no doubt they will have to wait a little longer this year. The first flowers have many relevancies to our daily life and although winter is not over and we may yet see snow, it does mean Spring is on it's way, Daffodils are in flower in some parts of the country and the South West Daff's are already in the shops.
Blackbirds are starting to tussle with each other over territorial rights and some of the wildlife in the fields are waking to the new season with plenty of food around already. Birds also have food readily available in the fields and hedgerows, but for many of us we like to feed garden birds all year round and so they come to rely on our feeders being full and our water baths being ice free.
British Bird Food have many mixes of wild bird food for you to chose from, but at this time of year the best seller is our own exclusive Winter Mix
, with mealworms, suet pellets and lots of sunflower hearts in the mix, it has everything your wild garden birds need to sustain them through the cold wet winter months and it is always a good idea to be prepared for the snow, with Winter mix in your garden bird food store you will have all you need should the weather turn for the worst again.
