Feeding the birds right now
Feeding wild birds is an all year round pastime, however there are many people who believe in only feeding during the winter months and there is nothing wrong with that, as the birds are in desperate need during inclement weather during the winter. I would just draw attention to the present weather patterns, cold damp mornings, bright hot days and cool nights. There are still a lot of fledglings around and I believe this type of weather demands a lot form the last brood of the year, they are not the strongest, the parents have been through two or three broods already and they are tired out. So we do feed the birds right now and as I write I am looking at our feeding station and there are lots of small birds including Blue and Great Tits with their young being shown the benefits of human provisions.
Our latest exclusive wild bird mix is Premium High Energy mix and it is perfect for this time of year, as there is still growth in the ground, this mix is guaranteed not to germinate so you will not get a load of sunflowers growing during the Autumn months on your well kept lawn. It only contains Sunflower Hearts, Peanut granules (perfectly OK for fledglings) and suet pellets, so the birds get a boost to their energy levels just in time for winter and the young get a free meal to boost growth in time for leaving the nest.
