Nest box protection

Posted by British Bird Food 19/03/2012 0 Comment(s)
Protecting the young birds in nest boxes is an important part of the wild garden bird lovers  responsibility. In the natural world the wild birds make a nest in the open countryside or in towns and parks, they always chose a spot where they think they will be safe to rear their young and camouflage the nest as much as possible. In our gardens, we place nest boxes to our favourite places and aim them in the North East direction - and wait patiently for the birds to occupy the box. But it does meant the nest box stands out a little and so can become a target for predators. A nest box hole protector is a metal plate that fits over the hole and ensures predators cannot open the box hole enough to steal the chicks. If you want to watch what happens in a nest box, try one of our camera boxes. Or you might like to see what is happening on your feeders, or in the garden wildlife habitats. The Wildlife World camera system is a colour camera with audio and LED lighting to control the high quality pictures seen on your own TV set.
