We all love feeding our garden birds, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Goldfinch, Bullfinch,Thrush,Blackbird, Robin, Wren, the list is endless, but not so many people are accommodating when it comes to the larger birds like Wood pigeon, Jackdaw, Collared Dove, Crow and even the Jay.
Small garden birds are easily catered with special wild bird food mixes, but if we want to feed the larger birds without disturbing the small wild birds what ca we do?
Here at British Bird Food, we like to think all birds should be fed all year round, they will decide if they want to go elsewhere, so if they are not eating then you have the answer as to when to feed, but the larger species seem to be around all of the year and we don't want them to frighten off or bully the smaller wild birds in our back yards. So we have a mix called Large Bird Food made up of lots of larger seeds (Wheat, Red Dari, White Dari, Maize, Plate Maize, Maple Peas, Blue Peas, White Peas, Safflower seeds and Tares.) for the crop filling appetites of the larger bird feeders.
Just feed your larger birds in a separate area of the garden and this will allow the smaller birds to feed undisturbed.
