There are a number of types to choose from. Tube feeders for seeds, mesh for peanuts, and special feeders for suet, or specific types of location, or birds. Invariably a combination gets the best results, but once again it is a matter of location, and the type of bird you want to attract. Something to bear in mind when choosing your feeders, is the surrounding area, and fauner of your space, by encouraging natural habitat around your feeder you may attract birds such as Spotted Flycatchers, which are rare, and do not usually eat from feeders, but they do like to nest in boxes or crevices in the garden, and, by ensuring a plentiful supply of flying insects from your plant life you will encourage them to stay. Also take into consideration what sort of animals are around your space, Hedghogs, and small mammals are probably welcome, but rodents, and preditors are a threat to your garden birds.
